Picked up a 200ft print of Disney's Lonesome Ghosts. Colour is nice and the print is OK-bit splicy and a few lines but the problem is the sound. Almost a regular sort of drop out of the sound that makes it quite a pain to listen to.

Is this a stripe problem or a bad recording? If anyone has the same film and could drop the sound onto an mp3 file or similar I suppose I could attempt a re-record but the risk would be no sound at all. Still there is always synch pulse (lol)

Does the stripe look ok at the points where the sound drops out? Does it drop away completely or just drop in level.
I had this problem on a film once where the level kept dropping away so I recorded onto the balance stripe with the ALC control turned on which helped to even the level. I then transferred the sound back to the main stripe. Wasnt perfect but it did help.

Tony, I can’t record the soundtrack into mp3 format. But I do have a copy of that print with good sound. If you want, drop me an email & I will post my print to you so you can re-record your print if you wish.

Craig, Tony will need a cresta setup to lift the sound onto tape and then transfer it back again unless hes going to transfer it onto CD but then I'm not too sure he will be able to keep it in sync without some sort of pulse unit.
I have a cresta setup here if Tony wants me to do the job for him?

How about using the UK Region 2 2-DVD set 'Mickey Mouse In Living Colour' as a re-recording sound source for this film (and possibly other Mickey Mouse cartoons too) it's available for less than £5 at Amazon.co.uk at the moment. I reckon you would then end up with a far better soundtrack than any Super 8 release of this title has had before.

Tony, this print is still availible from Derann. If your copy has all the original titles and NO splices why not ask for a re-record [Confused]
