I've just fitted a new drive belt and removed some parts to make the job easier. Well now I can't get the tape to pick up in the auto threading slot. I've attached a pic what has been removed & the barrel that I've rotated with the "RED" arrow pointing at it. I hope someone out there can "HELP" me. Regards Paul

I'm not even sure what I'm looking at.
Does the upper sprocket take your film? If so, is it jamming in the gate area?

Hi Jan > Sorry about the pics > The top pic is the motor side & the bottom one is looking behind the lense at the gate. The pick-up pins seem to turn but don't pick-up the tape. I thought that barrel(I'm sure it has a diffent name to that) on the motor side might have had something to do with this problem as I rotated it & was not sure what the right position.

Paul, by “Pin” can I assume that you mean the Claw. On Eumigs this should protrude through the gate assembly with a measurement between ¾ to 1mm.
What parts did you dismantle? Was it the shutter assembly? What model Eumig is in you photo.

Must say I've never seen anything like this arrangement next to the motor/belt drive. But what Craig is saying makes the most sense - in fact now that I'm looking at the picture of the gate again, it seems like the claw is not protruding into the film path like it should, therefore not advancing the film...
EDIT, just had a thought - is this one of the Eumig with flicker-free slow motion projection? I believe the way this works is that the shutter rotates at its normal, full speed, but the claw only advances the film every 'x' full turns of the shutter, rather than every turn. The up-down motion of the claw (from what I understand) still takes place as normal, but the in-out motion takes place once, then is suspended 'x' times, then takes place again, then is suspended again... and so on. This might be what the function of this whole setup next to the motor belt is - and indeed, a misadjustment might cause the claw to not move into the film's sprocket holes anymore.
It's a good theory, anyway... just not sure if I'm completely off the mark.

Thanks Jan & Craig > I've been scratching my head, & yes you're on the right track. I've turned the barrel around a part turn & "BINGO" the claw comes out.. Thanks guys..
