I was wondering what users thought of dealers at cine fairs. In the past I have attended certain fairs, where dealers (not holding stalls) are allowed in early BEFORE everyone else, to purchase. In effect, they are buying to sell back to the cine community at INFLATED prices! What do we think?

Yes Gary,I think you may have a point.Tracking prices of films lately has seen an increase in prices and for no apparent reason. In isolated cases of course certain very rare/short run prints will fetch a high price-particularly in Super8.
Its seems that only Regular8 keeps a reasonably stable price structure, possibly because of its lesser following.

A subject thats been hit upon before, however, with good stuff being harder to hunt down on second hand lists, the good stuff will certainly hold its own wherever they get sold,
I wonder what percentage of cine collectors have made the move to DVD projection and have now sold all there collections.
Paul Fosters last list was a really good one, i only wish i had the buying power to have purchased his whole 1ast page, some one somewhere has certainly parted with some good stuff there.

Yes Tom,

you' re right. The latest list of Mr. Foster has some very good films. Most of the films I have already in my collection, but there are some great and rare titels on the list. For example the marketing international full length prints of One eyed jacks and War of the worlds. I 'm very interested in this films. So I have to order the prints. But War of the worlds was already sold [Mad] [Mad] Who was this lucky guy?

One eyed jacks was still available and is know part of my collection.

Hi Ralf, I bought 'War of The Worlds' full length. [Big Grin]
Couldn't really afford it, but then couldn't afford to miss out.
Will review it when watched, however as I've already planned my shows for the next few months, that probably won't be until Set/Oct 2007.

Hi Dave,

congratulation to war of the worlds. I' m looking for the review of the film.

I hope to get another print of the full length version. These prints are sometimes on the lists here in Germany. But I must be quick because this title is often already sold.

Dealers without tables are certainly not allowed in before anyone else at the BFCC. We have caught a few on occasion and they've been ceremoniously booted out!

We also do that at the Northern Film Collectors Convention
(the 'Blackpool Bash' as it is affectionately known) - held in November at the Savoy Hotel

Kind regards

Adrian
