Hi
Can anyone give me some advice please.
I have just picked up a S710D and the motor does not have enough pressure to run successfully against the discs and runs very slow or not at all, it has been unused for a long time and is a bit dusty but being stored in its original box is not too bad, is there any service or adjustments to rectify this problem, thanks for any assistance

Hello Brian,

I have an Eumig 824 that ran to slow too.
When I opened it up the voltage selected was 220V.
I changed it to 230V and now it runs fine.
The 824 also has a lever to switch the frequentie from 50Hz to 60Hz. In Europe it has to be 50Hz.
But I'm not sure if your 710 uses the same technique.
The 824 hasn't got rubber belts which can age after so many years.

I had the same issue with a Eumig S934. I found that the problem wasn't the motor but the fact that the grease on the plastic gearwheels through the machine had dried up and become very sticky. I carefully cleaned off the old grease and replaced it with new and the machine runs at the proper speed now.

You might want to try this.

Also it might be worth ensuring that the two rubber plates on the discs either side of the motor shaft are not dirty - suggest cleaning them with alcohol.

Thanks for all your help, I shall try giving it a clean, any suggestions on best type of cleaning fluid?
Voltage is 240 and 50Hz

Brian,

I have a bottle of Isopropyl Alcohol. You can buy it from most chemists - sometimes they have to order it in. It's very good for cleaning things like this. I would suggest using that to clean/degrease the rubber coating of the two wheels by the motor.

It can also be handy for cleanign the film path and removing oxide build up etc.
