Around a week ago we gave a screening of Goldfinger here on super 8. This Bond story moves very quickly I find although to my shame I am not much of a fan of Connery as Bond and Much prefer Timothy Dalton or Brosnan. Preference is everything.

The 1964 Goldfinger classic is a real treat on 8mm with excellent print quality and I have started re-recording the sound track now from a digital source which will make quite an impact. We screened the film here to a few film fans and everyone seemed to like it. And the end of the film I jokingly asked if anyone wanted to see it again ? Guess what, they did and we watched it all over again. We sure are keen cine film collectors here and all credit to the 8mm distributor who put this baby out in the first place for us to enjoy on real film.

I do like the Bonds which Guy Hamilton directed and with the film having Shirley Eaton in the first reel it just about makes it unmissable for this super 8 film collector. Ever greater news is that Shirley will be at the Blackpool Film Collectors Convention later this year, so I will be in senior orgasmic orbit I expect with this prospect. Hold me back someone !

I too didn't particularly care for Sean Connery as Bond - Timothy Dalton was my favourite. But I have to say, this Daniel Craig chappie is bloody excellent.

My favourite Bond was Roger Moore. The big problem I have with the later bonds is the over reliance of computer special effects.

I would love to have a super 8 print of Man With The Golden Gun. Was it ever released?

The original Bond, Sean Connery, is to me by far the best. Roger Moore was also good, but a lot of his Bond films were silly and over the top. Connery has just the right mix of toughness and sophistication.

I agree Paul, Shirley Eaton is still a stunning lady, despite the onset of years.
I saw her at a Memorabilia exhibition about 12 months ago and she has "aged" remarkably well, without the aid of the "surgeon's knife" it would appear. Honor Blackman is another "Bond girl" in the same mould - same film as well, by coincidence. [Wink]

I think the best Bond ever was Gearge Lazenby, I know that I´m in a minority.

It was really to bad he only did one

Hello Hans,

nice to see that somebody else remember to George Lazenby. He only had one chance to show he was a good bond actor. I think his film OHMSS is one of the best in the series. The film has a famous soundtrack (John Barrys instumental at the beginning), Telly Savalas as Blofeld was outstanding and last but not least Diana Rigg the most beautiful bond girl ever.

A shame, the film was not a blockbuster at his time. But today it is a classic.

Ha, I´m not alone.

It is pretty funny becuse i read somewhere that Mr Broccoli the producer ( I think that is how you spell his name) said that it was to bad that George Lazenby "went crazy" becuse he thought that he could have been the best Bond ever.

In fact he was on his way back as Bond when Roger Moore stopped, but then all of a sudden Sean Connery said that he could do one more
