Hello everyone. I am new to the 8mm field first of all. I don't have much experience and have been reading some old posts to help me get started.

I have been transfering my parents 8mm film for them shooting onto a piece of posterboard and taping it with a Panasonic AG-DVC30 mini DV. I have set the speeds with my camera shutter so I don't get too much flicker and it looks great except I get little block-like things that pop up randomly as I watch it. It kind of ruins the film since you see these on different frames. It looks like something is wrong in the digitilization (if thats a word)of the film. Is there a way to fix this. Do I need a better camera cause I thought this one would be okay for this type thing? Can anyone give me some advice PLEASE? I've filmed the reels 2 times already and do not want to do them again after the 3rd time. Thanks everyone.

Sounds like the camera. For the best results at home a 3 chip camera is recommended and something other than filming off the wall. A multiplexer is an example.

I don't know if it will help but take a look at the web site of 'smallformat' http://smallformat.schiele-schoen.de/home/zeitschrift.asp as that magazine often covers film to video transfers.

John is right, to get best results you need the image from the projector as small as possible, best to use a cine film to video convertor.
