How do you thread film onto a Bonum reel? [Confused]

With difficultly as you have found out. They are one of those reels which you either love or hate and for me I hate them. The film never seems to catch and I end up having to hold the film against the centre core with a finger and then do a complete turn of the reel with your other hand.

Thanks, Kev! I thought maybe there was some simple formula that made these reels a wonderful thing. So far I dislike them also.

Exactly! I like the Bonum storage cases since they give you the option of allowing ventilation with the removal of the circular plugs. However, I can only thread the damn reel by simultaneously pressing in the sides to hold the film and turning the reel! The German Revue reels are the exact same infuriating design and the Gepe reels are very similar but they do have an easier threading slot.

I agree, Bonum reels are a pain to thread up. But, on the plus side they are a very good quality reel with nice smooth edges and no plastic burrs, and they run very straight. The cases are very nice too, so you get a nice 'library' look to your film collection. In other words, Bonum reels will take very good care of your films.
