Hi members UK and US,

Which one do you think is funnier?

Another question is why there are a lot of "Carry On" series on Super 8mm but on the other hand, what I knew, only 2 titles of "National Lampoon's"

Carry on Films for me. My favourites are Camping and Screaming both of which are available on super 8.

Carry On's for me also. My favourites are Camping, Doctor, Cleo, Abroad, Again Doctor, Cowboy.

I would add that I pretty much like all of them and keep watching them again and again. [Smile]

You cant beat a bit of Sid and Kenneth.

Carry Ons for me too, "Screaming" being top of the list! I often hear it said though that the humour in the Carry On series is uniquely British, so it might be that National Lampoon will be tops with our American Buddies?

There's also a distinct feeling of Nostalgia associated with Carry On films, they have a very familiar and comforting feel to them...

ps. My favourite line from a Carry On film has to be from Carry on Spying when Barbara Windsor first meets the scary Soviet official and says; " I'm sorry, I was expecting a Man... or a Woman..."

I've only seen a couple of the Carry Ons, but the National Lampoon films started out on a high note ("Animal House" and one or two of the "Vacation" series) and went down in quality very quickly. They licensed out their name to practically anyone and the result is there are some awful films with the Lampoon name attached. I like that the Carry On films had the same troupe throughout most of the run. I owned "Carry on Emmanuelle" in Super 8mm briefly, but that seems to be one of the weaker efforts.
Universal 8's release of National Lampoon's "Disco Beaver" is very dated and not very funny. The "Animal House" 2x400 is quite good.

Carry ons for sure,the only lampoon that was any good was the Animal house, The carry on were very naughty and titilting without any use of bad language,
In todays films it seems the only way to get by is to cram in as many fs as poss, what i do notice more now is the increasing use of the C word which i cant understand any movie having to use at all.This is one word which is particuly offensive to more females than males and as always its getting into daily use everywhere,
So bring back the carry on [Big Grin]

I have seen only one "Carry On", the only one I own, "Carry On Cleo". The humor is right up my alley(you don't hear that expression much anymore. I wonder why!). The National Lampoon's with the Grizwald family are hillarious to me, especially "Vacation" and "Christmas Vacation". There are some classic lines like if you "if you don't be quiet you'll all be whistling dixie out your a$$es" or Clark walking deliriously through the desert with his pants on his head singing "I love a parade". . Another classic scene is from "Christmas Vacation" when the squirrel gets loose in the christmas tree and don't forget the green glowing drainage from cousin Eddy's portable toilet in his RV parked in Clark's(Sparky)driveway.

I am on the look out for as many "Carry Ons" as I can find. The humor is completey different from the "Lampoon Vacations".
Both are satifying and less filling. [Big Grin]

Doug 2 carry on`s, and Dan 1 whats going on here, even on DVD they are a must.
Your right Mike they are very familiar and comforting if you will. I love them all.
Mr Biggar in the hospital one, though the not so usual Framkie Howard. etc
Its no good late as it is got to put one on.
The names the words etc.
Carry On Screaming is an absolute Classic with Peter Butterworth on Fine Form and Harry H Corbett, well they all were.
They all have good and bad moments, I hate the end of carry on camping but Terry Scott in that is fantastic. But Peter Butterworths Josh Fiddler is wonderful too.
They are just so bloomin great.
