Hello,

I own two Eumig projectors.
One of them is 8mm projector P8 imperial.
The second one is Mark 501 projector.
I have a problem with the latter.

This machine automatically takes the film from the fron and it goes to the take-up reel. As far as I understand the take-up reel is not fixed as the film on the front. The plastic knob has two small pieces to fix the reel but I think this is not enough. I see the reel swinging. As a result of this the film encounters friction problem while rolling inside the reel.

I hope I am clear with my problem. Actually I am knew in using this machines so does anyone can guide me how to solve this problem? I also question if the reels I have are not proper or bad quality.

I do not have such problem with the older 8mm projector. In that one I manually set up the film to enter take-up reel.

Hello,

I wanted to post a picture to show my problem.
When I begin to project the film, The film does not go smoothly into this takeup reel.
I am afraid that I will destroy my films.

Is it a problem of the reel or the projector?

Are you able to try another reel on your projector in order to rule out the possibility that it is the reel that is the problem?

I think however from your description, that it sounds more likely that the problem lies with the projector itself. Does the spindle itself move freely up and down and side to side? Because it shouldn't, if it does it might be that you can tighten it up once you have removed the cover on the back of the take up arm, but I'm not familiar enough with your projector to be able to tell you if this is so.

There are quite a few Eumig experts on here though so hopefully one of them will be able to advise you further.

Thanks for your kind reply.
I have three reels and I was trying with the one, which seemed to be the best. I should order a brand new reel perhaps.
I already opened the cover to see if there is a problem inside. I will do that again based on your suggestion and wait for Eumig experts to comment further on.
Meanwhile, I am reading the previous posts, this is definetly a forum with knowledge.

I decided to upload two pictures from my projector.

1.I see a strange shape (see circled in red). When I turn the power, it seems to work fine but I am not sure if this is problem? If so how can I change this? I am sorry but I do not know the name or functionality of this piece.

2. This a shot from the takeup reel. it does not moves in/out while working I can not see how to fix it better. It seems fine.

After a month, I wanted to return to this topic as my problem was not solved after trying to project my films with a new takeup reel.

My problem is with the film not rolling the takeup reel properly.
With a better reel the problem continued.
Before sharing the photos and a vide of my projector I wanted to ask a very simple question. When I hold the reel with the film and the takeup (empty) reel I see that their heights differ. I can hardly fit the film inside this empty reel. Is this normal?
I have got an original Eumig reel which is much wider but this does not fit the projector. Are there any metal reels for super8, as well?

I still question if this is an issue of low quality reels or the projector itself. Here are some recent pictures I have taken from my Eumig 501.

I have marked the strings as they are not very tight.

Hello Ethem, i know this reaction s very late and offcourse i have no idea if you allready have solved the problems. i'm a dutch eumig expert and your problem seems to be that the friction coupling of the take up reel needs adjestment. the little plastic knobs on the take up axle are sufficient to hold the reel in place. you see, if the projector pulls to hard on the film it pulls it so hard trought the gate that it can damage the film. the excentric wheel on the inside is you 9 fps slow motion controller. also a common problem i stumble opun almost every day is old and crooked take up spools. wrong storage can deform them so they dont work anymore as an automatic take up reel. if you still need more help you can post maybe a pb in dutch to me
