After posting on a thread about CHC releases it made me think that on here as a group surely we could all be doing more for the hobby.Much more.!!!!!!
For a start how about a monthly or bi monthly email flyer from the forum to all super 8 collector emails we can muster with permission.
So for instance one or two of us keep a backed list of all super 8 collectors/buyers email addresses who are OK we have their email to get the super 8 forum flyer from here.
We can include in the flyer reviews taken from here or new ones done, new realeses, adds for anyone who has some bits for sale.Etc etc.
Contact details of dealers etc who are OK always in the flyer, some screen shots of prints etc, links to you tube ( mainly your bits lee) etc etc.Old projector/releases reviews always stimulate the interest etc.
Surely if theres anywhere or anyone who can inject and help put some life into the hobby its us blokes on here. There`s loads of us it would be so easy for the end of every second month to get a decent read flyer together and really push the word out and keep people informed etc and keep a bit of buzz.
We should all be able in our various film dealings, contacts we all ready have, people we end up selling to etc, put an email in cine publications to send to sign up for the free flyer and also have the cine publications listed to and ask for support for them as well.
I could go back through my old sales etc from ebay . conact sellers etc and ask if they want to go on, we all could.
Surely as a group we can pump some life and interest into the hobby, by god by now we should have commisioned a few releases for our members from derann and CHC anyway, even just a trailer we all buy etc.
Come on lads how about its, lets get "The Forum Flyer" to jolly well lift off, it could be great and good fun too and really work for super 8.
We`re at a crunch point for 8 at the moment I feel so lets man the pumps and keep her afloat.
Best Mark.

Nice idea Mark. I'm sure the logistics would be a nightmare but I'm up for it. Put my name down and let me know how I can help.

Great idea Mark T, but a logistical nightmare, as Mark H said. The other problem you would have is one already mentioned on the Forum - "Contact by e-mail". As we all know, it is fraught with "danger and frustration". [Frown] I do not want to put a "damper" on any suggestions by any of my fellow members, but at the end of the day, who will volunteer to take on this mammoth undertaking? [Confused] I think it may be a case of "the heart is willing but the flesh is weak". Nice to "bounce" ideas about though. That's what this Forum is for. [Big Grin]

Its that it then ???? I hope CHC or Derann don`t read this thread. Maybe we should just buy a spade and start digging.
Come on lads!!!!
Best Mark.

Mark. Don't get despondent,of course that's "not it then".
Ideas are being "talked" about on this forum at this moment. Quite frankly, I hope Derann and CHC are reading this, because then they will have an idea of the "commitment and feeling of forum members".
I have to say that, due to lack of response from them, that they aren't reading this forum!
That's the problem! They SHOULD be!
As said so many times before, this is a readymade customer base - use it!

I like the idea of a flyer of sorts via e-mail. The e-mail issue isn't that big a deal, really, because everyone interested can just get a 'hotmail' or 'yahoo' free account and use it to receive such mailings. That way your personal mail is out of the loop.

Best,
Claus.
