Picked up a lovely condition Eumig 610d recently, great condition but the lamp does not work,I have tried a new bulb and checked the two connectors which both appear to be intact but still no joy, everything else works ok inc the pilot light.

Any ideas???

This can be quite a common problem with the older Eumigs, have you put a multimeter across the pin sockets of the ceramic plug?

These older plugs can wear internally and suffer from excessive carbon build up. The good news is that if you pop down to your nearest diy store you can pick up a new lamp socket, these are the ones that you buy for domestic 12v spot lights, they are about £1 to buy and come with a generous amount of wire on the ends so you can connect them via solder or terminal crimps to the main board.

If you get no voltage reading from the bulb holder, try and take a reading from where the wire enters the bulb holder or from where it leaves the main board. I you do register power then their is no reason why you should not get illumination with a new holder as your original will most probably have burned out.

Cheers Craig, yes that was indeed the next step I was going to take with the multimeter, sounds like it can be fixed very cheaply if the socket has had it,many thanx for the advice it would be a real shame to scrap the machine as its in top condition it probably hasnt helped that the old lamp has been left in probably for a very long time too.
