I made a low level flea market score this weekend when I found 3 Super 8 Ken Films titles.

One of them was a 200 ft UNSINKABLE BETTE DAVIS.

I checked this film before I bought it and although it was not marked with a "B&W/Sound" sticker on the front, it did have a sound stripe.

I was puzzled to find when I reviewed the film later that night, it was silent with subtitles at the bottom.

The question obviously is; Was this a fluke or did Ken Films put out some silent titles with sound stripe?

In any case, I'll have some fun with some sound bites and Kim Carnes "Bette Davis Eyes".

As far as I know, Ken never released any sound versions of their older United Artists titles. The previous owner might have used their home sound striping unit. I have copies of Kens' "Ghidrah" and "Godzilla vs. the Thing" that had been sound striped this way.

It is very possible that, since pre-striped film was very easy to come by back in the 70's, Ken's lab may have just been out of non-striped film when they printed that title. Since sound-striped film runs fine through silent projectors, it wouldnt have made a difference to the consumer.
