I've just been reading the Movie Maker review (March 1978) of the Elmo ST 1200 HD.

In a paragraph relating to the supplied electret microphone, the reviewer talks about the double jack plug with 3.5mm and 2.5mm pins. Referrring the latter he says:- "........for the low-voltage supply for the capsule and presumably the FET built into the microphone."

What is the FET?

Roy

Many thanks for the link, which itself has further links.

Have I assumed correctly that the Field Effect Transistor is used for amplifying a low signal?
