I don't like the look of it, looks more like butchery to me. Those mods, if that's what they are don't look well done. It will be interesting to here are tech guy's opinions on this. Wish i could read German.

I agree some of it is a bit rough. I was interested to see what people thought the mods were. I could see locking reel spindles and remote focus, I think.

Modified machines very often mean rather heavily used machines as well so you need to be cautious, especially with a GS1200.
Wonder what it will go for.
There seems to be far more interest in 8mm in Geramny equipment wise at least than anywhere else these days.
The numbers of machines on offer is amazing and a good source to keep us all going for years as often loads used for filming type purposes as well.
But myself I`d be steering clear of this one even if I had any money.

Looks to me like he has incorporated some sort of remote focussing arrangement, plus an electronic digital frame counter, and for some obscure reason he has also modified the spool retaining system. The rest of it, I have no idea.

This is certainly a 'custom project'; it would help some, sales-wise, if the modifications all worked:

The reel clamps seem fine (in idea if not in handywork) but still, quite a bit of overkill for running 1200-ft reels of Super-8.

Electronic counter. OK. Perhaps a good thing, except it only works correctly in reverse, according to the text. In forward, it tends to stop intermittently.

Remote focus control: the motor doesn't work (the way it is worded suggests the seller is not the one having done the mods.)

The two mystery plugs on the front of the machine: he doesn't know what they do, but he adds a strange aside: the machine was
used to record sound on films shot in time-lapse mode, so 'the plugs most likely were for control.' Whatever all that means....

Oh, and there's no exciter lamp with it, and the projector was only tested in playback...but other than that, it's the deal of the day.

The remote focus is a very nice idea, however.

Butchery is what I call it. I cant work out what the mod is for on the feed spool?

To be honest with you I wouldnt touch it with all that extra modding as it will be hell to sort out any problems if it should be playing up which by the sounds of it.....it is!

I suppose the mods could be removed and the machine put back to std spec but then your left with all those holes [Frown]
