Hey guys, I know there is about a million similar threads, but I couldn't find one exactly relevant.

I'm having a few problems with an otherwise pristine Elmo. You guessed it, the hum. This thing is killing me, it is so loud. This cannot be within the design spec. Is it worth mucking around and doing the bypass mods, or is there an easier fix?

Also the other problem it has is when running it makes a wierd noise, it sounds like its speeding up and slowing down. Theres no constant pitch running noise. What the heck is this? I hope you can help me.

Cheers

Hi Damien
I suggest you operate the record switch a few dozen times & in the process it could clean oxidisation from the switch contacts inside the motherboard slide switch. Spray it with switch cleaner to assist in flushing away this internal deposit & you may be lucky in restoring normal sound. This sliding recording switch is the source of most unexplained sound noises that Eumigs seem to suffer from.
In most cases this humming & feedback can be eliminated by the above process.
Good luck and let us know if it works.
