I knew all projectors sold here are 110 v.

But I am thinking to buy them if I can change the voltage.

1. For American/Canadian members, how big is the possibility to get dual voltage projectors?

2. If an ELMO ST or GS 1200 (American Market) was set for 110v only, does it still have 2 pulleys for converting 50hz/60z inside?

3. For any of you, if I bought a 110 v only projectors (American Market), can I open the back side and do a tricky things on power supply to get 220 v?

Winbert, I think just about all Eumig projectors are 'universal voltage' models that come with transformers which can be adjusted for 117v or 220 V and 50Hz or 60Hz. For example the Eumig 800 series have transformer tappings for 117,125,160,200,220,230,qnd 240 volts, along with a mechanical knob adjustment for 50 or 60hz.

Winbert as the GS has a DC motor it doesnt matter if the supply is 50 or 60Hz. The GS comes in 3 flavours, 110 - 120V, 220 - 240V and 110 - 240V. The later has a control inside the machine for selecting the voltage and the first 2 models have tappings on the transformer which have to be changed.

When you refer to the ST range then all the ST range are the same as the GS with the exception of the ST1200 range. Those machines have AC motors. Again they are setup for the same voltage ranges as the GS but you also have to alter the belts to select 50 or 60Hz operation.

Hope that makes things a little clearer.

Thanks Paul and Kev,

The reason I have to look for dual voltage (or universal voltages) because I will bring the projectors back to Indonesia which is 220v.

It seems that Eumig and Elmo ST/GS 1200 are not easy find here, so I have to stick with the most common projectors (i.e cheap and plastic).

Now, with those common projectors, is it possible to do voltage changing on their power supply even though they were set for American market only (i.e there is no voltage selector obviously seen).
