Since I sold my 938 stereo and my 926 stereo, I thought it was nice to show a picture of them together with the 940.

Notice the same sound control on the 938 and the 926.
And the top of the 940 and the 938 are also the same (except for the lenses).

What a great line up of 900 series Eumigs.
I would like to get a 940 if I can.
I see that some of yours have the Eumig Optical level Lens system.
How have you found these Lenses?
I like using them & the Zoom is great.
A bit hard to clean them, I found.
Do you find them getting a bit tight to slide the leveller when raising or lowering the picture.

Hi Frank,
I find the optical levelling works great - it is a real convenience in setting up a show. But I must confess that I usually use my 938 with a better quality lens, in my case a Kodak Ektar f1.0 22mm lens of stunning quality.
Eumig were ahead of their time with optical levelling, which has only recently become a feature of video projectors, where it is known as 'lens shift'.

That's a great line up of some great stereo machines, all beautiful looking projectors. I love my 938, the best performing projector I have ever owned. Smooth running, rock steady, very gentle on film, and probably the best stereo sound of any S8 projector.

Sorry Steven & Frank, but the 940 is not for sale.
I sold the other 2 stereo projectors since I have recently acquired the 940.

The optical levelling works great indeed.
No need to screw up the foot of the projector and the quality of the lens seems fine.
Makes you wonder why other models don't have this lens?
For some reason their topmodel (the 940) doesn't have it.
On my projectors the leveller slides smooth.

To be very honest, I'm not sure if there is a real difference between these 3 projectors.
They all project a good image and have great sound.
Although some don't like the co-axial reels on the 926, I find this one of the easiest projectors to operate.
Threading goes totaly automatic (unless the film has a bad leader) and never failed on me.

I am the happy purchaser of Han's S926. It's the second one of these machines that I have due to the fact that they're so good. I did have a S938 a while back, but much prefer the 926. Superb light output for only a 100w lamp!

I'm surprised that Simon actually prefers the 926 over the 938 ,as to me, the 938 has everything the 926 has - plus 150 watt lighting, a feed sprocket, and 800ft in-line reels.
But no question the 926 is a real 'looker' with that two-tone finish.
By the way, looking at Hans's photo, is the electronic base compartment actually deeper on the 940 compared with the 926/938, or is it just the angle of the photo?

Paul it is deeper, just like my 940. The deeper base contains all sorts of extra electronic goodies that I cannot divulge here. It is the priviledge of 940 owners only.

Nice pictures...here are a couple more.

Those are now old photos as I gave the projector away last year for free plus some films. In the last photo the projector is getting a good run and check over, its very quiet running. The new owner who had never owned a projector of any type is looking after it really well and intends to keep it, although I made no conditions at the time of giving it away. I am just pleased that its getting used as in the past the previous owners had just stored it. [Smile]

Graham, those photos are awesome! What a wonderful machine that 940 is, I'm sure it makes many GS1200 owners a little envious! Without a doubt, the 940 is the pinnacle of Eumig projectors, and possibly the best performing super 8 projector ever made.

Because the 938 and the 926 both are already packed, I can't measure the base anymore for comparison.
The base from the 938/926 differs from the one from the 940, so it could be deeper.
Although I prefer my Bauer T-610, I must say I like the Eumig 940 a lot too.
It even seems to have a steadier projected image then the Bauer.

The Eumig 940 is certainly an impressive projector considering its 70s-80s technology. One can only imagine what the Eumig engineer's would be manufacturing today twenty plus years on had they still been in business.

I think Eumig's next step would have been to add the optical sound facility to the 940, then they may have extended the basic 940 design to include 200watt or xenon lighting and 1200ft reel capacity, thus competing head-on with the Elmo GS1200.
What a projector that would have been!

I am sure there are former Eumig engineering staff around today who could tell us where the 940 (950, 960?) was headed next. Perhaps it would have been called the 10 series.

I prefer the 926 in terms of the two-tone look it has! My other 926 will be going off to John White soon, to have the spring replaced in the main operating switch. A machine well worth having in 100% full operation.

I have a 926 and love the look of it. Mabye the best looking projector ever, but I would swap it for a 938 or 940 anyday as I dont like that dual-core design and not having a top sprocket. Also I dont like rewinding on it so sometimes use another machine which is a hassle.

However good the stereo Eumigs are, overall I still prefer the GS1200. [Smile]

Well, praise must go to Hans. I was the purchaser of his Eumig S 926, and four days after he posted it, the machine arrived very safely in the UK at my address! It's another outstanding machine; crystal-clear sound and quiet running, whilst being in excellent cosmetic condition, makes this a superb purchase and a lot cheaper than buying from the UK. Many thanks, again, Hans. I really am hearing things on the soundtrack of some of my films, that I didn't realise were there before.

Have just tried a Derann Disney stereo sound print on the Eumig S926 with a new lamp; outstanding in terms of picture and sound! Takes a lot of beating...3D-like pictures!

Hï: I´ve got a Eumig 926GL Stereo, a S932 and a S940 Stereo Multiprocessor. I bought them all on Ebay for Euros 184,50 including shipping (two from different cities from Germany and one from Spain). But S940 has alloy oxide in some parts a kind of rust that seems white powder. I´ve been cleaning it the most I could but dissasembling an Eumig is a lot more complicated than an Elmo or A Yelco, for example. I hope to reassemble it well without screws that I´d not know where to put... I know I paid a ridiculous price for all the three, but the seller of the S940 told the machine was in good working order. The rear cover is a little broken on a corner also. I can replace it with the S932 one, the same size but, due to a different transformer, the windows that show voltage, etc. are not in the same place, but that´s not important.
I´ve just won an auction for a Bauer T600 Stereosound. Many people says it´s a wonderfull machine, a lot better than the Eumig and very quiet running. In terms of recording possibilities, the T600 is similar to Eumig S938 and Bauer T650 like Eumig S940, but Bauer amps have a single slide control for tone, not as Eumig with one for Bass and another for Trebble. What many people dislike from Eumigs is too many plastic parts but, when in working order itá a fantastic projector though you can´t easily remove a film without finishing to project it.
Anyway, I loved my Beaulieu 708EL till he died. I hope I could resurrect it one day.

My earlier Eumig S926 stereo (I have two, they're so good!) is now making the journey back from John White who sorted out the loose control knob and removed the "revving sound" through lubrication of the mech. Again, not only must we recommend the machine itself, but also John White who always restores these machines to original factory condition at very reasonable prices!

Agree Simon - I wish we had a John White in this country. I'd love to know how he fixed that control knob, must have been quite a job.
I still can't get over Grahams picture of the 940! Was any projector ever captured this well?

Thought I'd provide an update on the work John White carried out on one of my Eumig Stereo S926 projectors. John is an ex-employee of Johnson's of Hendon, who used to distribute Eumig machines. He is superb and very reasonably priced. My Eumig became increasingly resistant to having film inserted; he cured this by putting in a new gate pressure pad. The "revving" sound the machine displayed after it had warmed up was cured by thorough lubricating. Finally, the loose and non-positive operation of the main control knob was cured by having a new tension spring fitted. The machine is now back to "as new" condition.

I have always wanted a Eumig projector especially one for regular 8 sound to use as my main unit for standard 8 film.

I use ELMO ST-1200 for super 8 but I must say these pictures of the 900 series Eumigs are beautiful. I want one!

This series of Eumigs (Super 8 only) are outstanding. The 938 is slightly higher spec (800' reel & 150w lamp on the 938 compared to 600' reel & 100w lamp on the 926) but the actual light output isn't massively brighter with the 150w lamp. The 926 is my favourite, in terms of looks, sound & picture performance.
