I am enjoying my new Eumig S938 so much that I'd like to use a scope lens with it... I was wondering if anyone knows if there's a bracket that fits on the front or do I need to get a stand to hold the lens in front of the projector... it looks like there are some holes near the lens - but it could just be for the daylight screen I'm thinking...

Can you post a pic of the front lens area of you Eumig? I made a bracket for my GS-1200 and ST-1200s. Maybe this idea would apply to your Eumig.

Actually the holes are for a daylight viewer and because it is quite light, I don't think it is suitable to adapt a scope lens holder. But you can certainly try and find a "universal" free standing scope-lens holder like the ones sold by Wittner.

I made a scope lens holder for my Eumigs out of chipboard (you could use MDF). It plugs into the three holes on the front and is held in place by a screw at the back of the case. You could, however thread the centre hole and use that to secure the bracket.

The bracket has a hole for my largest lens (a Magnarama) and inserts to fit the smaller ones (Kowa and Iscomorphot). The butterfly screw on the left secures the lens in place once the best position is found.

Many moons ago (up until at least late 90's in-fact) universal 'scope lens holders were readily available here in the UK.

Sadly, the reason that they are no longer available is that the original manufacturers (usually one-man bands) are now either retired or passed away. Shame, as these type of purpose made holders would usually accomodate any type of lens and projector combination and could be "made to order".

Do let us know about your new Eumig though!!! [Smile]

Rob - I don't want to rub it in - but I am in LOVE with my Eumig 938. I feel like I found a wounded animal on the side of the road and am nursing it back to health... well, that sounds a bit crazy... but it feels kind of like that. First, I was able to get the back spindle (Thanks again Trevor!)... then there was a burning smell and I realized the auxiliary fan that cools the bulb was not working... that just turned out to be a missing fuse... then I had to buy a power converter because the voltage could not be switched for the US... there were a few other minor snags but now it is running so quietly and smoothly I feel like ditching my Elmo GS1200's and just finding another 938 and having them as my main projectors. It also feels soooo good knowing the 938 won't scratch films... I live in fear of the GS's doing that even though I keep them incredibly clean.

As I reported my sound pressure pad popped off one of my two Elmo GS1200s right in the middle of watching Beauty and the Beast last weekend and it put a scratch on a few seconds of that precious (used to be mint) print. It's always something with those Elmos... I definitely have a love/hate thing going on with them right now... But this Eumig is just so great. I am waiting for a DIN audio cable I ordered from EBAY UK to test out the stereo recording functions... but if that goes smoothly I have no more problems with it and the ordeal is over... Phew!

Martin - Yes, please manufacture that great looking scope lens holder because making one of those is WAY over my head.... Oh by the way what is "Wittner" - I don't know this company and would gladly order a standing lens holder if they have them available.

Thanks for the compliments.. but I've only just finally acheived true retirement after father-in-law passed away a few weeks ago, aged 103 (and a half!), so there is a considerable backlog of projects already. But I will try and produce a drawing that you can all use...as I said mine is made of wood and not beyond the capabilities of any DIY enthusiast. It suits any of the Eumigs where the projection lens does not protude further forward than the front of the case, and for any where it does, a simple block of wood will bring the fixing points further forward.
I have also modified my Elmo ST600 with a "screw on" false front, made of wood, which converts the front to the same size and shape as my Eumigs so that I can use Eumig accessories and this bracket with that also.
