The impossibility of obtaining Std 8 splicing tape for CIR-type splicers has been discussed here before - but if anyone can identify any supplier in the world that they have confirmed DEFINITELY has it (NOT one they think MIGHT have it), I'd be delighted. Some sellers claim that the Super 8 tape is correct, but Std splicers ideally need the wider 12mm type to cover 3 sprockets.

I tried emailing CIR as the Std 8 tape is on their website, who kindly replied: "The price for each roll of NAS13 (12mm x 10mt.) is Euro 3,00 each. (we don't fill orders inferior to Euro 160,00 in goods value)."

So, if anyone is willing to order 54 rolls, no problem, but they also require a VAT number. I asked them if they can tell me a supplier anywhere in the world that stocks it, but no reply so far.

I'm going to need to find a few rolls for my S8 Guillotine soon, so if anyone knows who stocks those too, please let me know.

Hello Adrian

It's available from Wittners in Germany, see the link below, about the third item down 'part' number 1069 at 3.28 Euros per roll - I've bought it before and it is excellent quality and definitely the correct width you need for std 8mm films.

Greg - they also sell the Super 8, 9.5mm and 16mm sizes.

Kevin,

Many thanks for the information - a major breakthrough for Std 8 users! Although their type costs more than the CIR, in real terms it's less as it's 15m long as opposed to 10m.

Is it any easier buying from Wittners, if you're not in Germany, nowadays? I recall it being quite complicated when I ordered something from them several years ago.

Adrian,

I think I can spare a couple of rolls. Email me if interested and
I'll check.

Rob,
Thanks for the offer but in view of my rate of usage, I have enough to keep me going for the time being, but I was concerned about whether I'd be able to get any more in future.

So if anyone else needs some more urgently, please feel free to ask Rob.

I've just had some 12mm tape commissioned for manufacture, so I'll have a large number of rolls available within the week if anyone is interested.

Bart... is this for the CIR Super 8 splicers? If so, let me know when you have it in stock... I'll order some for sure.

Hi Bart,

I would be interested in purchasing some of the Standard-8 supplies when you get them in.

Best,

JBG

Hi Greg,

I've got loads of tape for the Super 8 CIR already, I own 2 of these myself.

Email me on shop at bluecinetech dot co dot uk if you need some in Super 8, like I say I've got at least 60 rolls at the moment!

The 12mm tape is slightly wider and will be suitable for the Standard 8 version, I won't have any of these for maybe a week or so.
