Hi Folks,

as I said weeks before, I was building an Super 8-Longplay-Unit.
Now it is ready and works fine.

My english is not so good, that I can give a technical instruction, but I made a lot of pictures.

My (german) website with more photos...

I think, they will tell enough about building it...

Regards,
Michael

Have a nice (screening) weekend [Big Grin]

Sophisticated yet simple, your design shows creativity and ingenuity. You did a good job of documenting the construction with your photographs - congratulations on your accomplishment.

... there's even room for a Film-O-Clean on there !

How I wish I was mechanically minded.

Peter.

I so envy engineering knowledge like this! OMG, your device is a work of art!

Michael,

That looks very cool. What size reels are you using?

I think the Film-O-Clean would make it perfect. [Big Grin]

Nice -- but you need to destroy an Elmo ST-1200 -- which already has 1200 foot capacity. I assume these reels are bigger -- but it's hard enough to find 1200 foot reels now anyway. But I do admire the engineering. Well done.

If I ever attempted something like this, I would probably try Chip Gelmini's design from last year (seems easier). Both designs have their own elegance.

Hi to all and many thanks for your kind words !

@Roy and Dan:
Yes, there would be room for Film-O-Clean... [Big Grin]
...but here in Germany it is too expensive for me [Frown]

@Dan:
I'm using reels between 360m and 600m, but it is possible to play reels > 600 m. It's room enough for 850m-reels, which I saw at a friend of mine...

@Tony:
I had an Elmo ST, which was damaged and not possible to repair. That's the reason why I used the parts from it. It is possible to use parts from an other damaged projector, but I don't know how they will work...
I saw Chip's construction, too, but my english is not so good, that I understood all words. So I tried my own unit [Big Grin]
