Hello everyone,
I have the following problem/question and would be great if anyone could help/assist/lend a hend.
I bought a Spanish language S8 feature and I do have a DVD with the English language soundtrack of said feature. The S8 feature does have some censorship cuts, while the DVD version is uncut.
I found a guy over here in Germany who said he could put the English soundtrack on the S8 feature and to make it lip-synch (incl. editing for the cuts).
I have an ELMO ST 1200 and a REVUE LUX 5005 projectors (both mono). I donīt have any sound issues with any other movies I own on these 2 projectors.
So the guy returned the "dubbed" feature and once I rolled it, there was still spanish soundtrack on the feature. So he said due to my mono projectors he would have to delete a certain track on the feature, as well. Second time I get the movie back, thereīs no sound at all. He insists, that on his Bauer projector the English soundtrack is included.
Anyone any idea what this does mean? Or anyone who can offer proper dubbing services? I an willing to pay for the service and for shipping.
Would be great if anyone could help. PS: Speaking of magnetic sound, of course.
Best,
Thorsten

I used to do some retracking and I had an issue once with a print of The Blues Brothers. While it was perfect on my recording machine (Elmo GS1200) and my playback test machines (Elmo SC18, ST600, GS1200 xenon and Goko RM8008), it didn't play well on my customer's ST1200... I suppose the ST's soundhead was somehow misaligned but other films were fine. Maybe it's down to the quality of the track material.
I'll be back at my studio in august if you want to drop me an email - jmtoussaint (at) claranet (dot) fr - I also have Bauer and Eumig machines (your Revue Lux is a rebadged Eumig 700 or 800) so plenty of projectors to test the results. For a feature, I charge 15 euros per 400ft reel + s&h.

It seems to me the new sound has been put on the balance track which neither of your projectors have access to (just the main track like all mono projectors). If you get a twin track or stereo machine you should be okay but of course just putting the sound on the balance track is probably not ideal because it's more prone to problems than the main track simply because of its diminutive size.

The mono sound should be recorded simultaneously on the main track and the balance track.
