I have here a friends Elmo 1200, (not a D or HD)
All works goods apart form upon rewinding the darn thing slows and stops half way, any ideas please, i seem to have the asdjustment about right on the rewind gears at the front but just cant get it to do the job??? New belts have been fitted and all pullys are clean etc

Tom,

There is a clutch pressure adjustment on the rear gears too. Maybe it is to tight. Trying tweaking the clutch pressures in the front and back.

Hi Tom
The positive lock for rewind is obviously not working & thats why its slipping under load.
Try and see why the rewind locking button doesn't activate the lock. It should snap into lock mode when you depress the button during rewind.

P.S.
Did you do the checks that I mentioned for the eumig s 905 coaxial spindles which wont wind onto the take up reel?

As Dan mentioned, there is gearing on the takeup that could be the culprit.

There is a one-way gear used to turn the takeup. If you turn the takeup ( clockwise ) after stopping the projector, this gear will disengage and will not re-engage until the projector runs in forward again. Typically, when the tail of the film leaves the projector, the takeup begins rotating faster, and you power off the drive. This is usually sufficient to disengage the one-way gear on the takeup. Although if you prevent the reel from rotating and immediately grab the tail of the film as it exits projector and begin to rewind, the one-way gear will not disengage. One revolution is usually sufficient to disengage the one-way gear - as long as the projector is not under power.

As this is the old 1200 it doesnt have the clutch type mechanism on the rear, its well strange this one as the rewind gear does lock ok when you push the rewind lever down, it starts off fine but just slows and stops half way thru any size spool,
