Last January just before our big shake up we were watching some old home movies, in doing so I find it easier to sit next to the projector and not in a projection room. Anyway my grandson Connor was watching me and the projector, as we had a break he climbed onto the seat and got at the projector, he will be two years old next month the following photos tells the story...dont you think.
now...where do you plug it in
Its obovious from this above photo that he is an "Elmo" fan...a kid with good taste dont you think.
Who says film projectors dont fascinate the young.
I have given a Elmo ST600 to my son with strict instructions that its not his but for Connor when he is a bit older

That's great! My wife can't stand my projector, but my 9 and 4yr old love it.

Really cool.
My little Devin (two years and 8 months) is endlessly fascinated with my projections, and I've set aside for him a "rust bucket" projector that just won't seem to die, (isn't it always like that? The projectors that mean something to me endlessly break down, and the old "edsel" still keeps rocking on?) for him to mess around with an some old silent super 8 cartoons and such for him to have fun with.
The old projector is a Copal. The optical and magnetic sound have been gutten out of it, yet it still runsm lights up and will play for him. The thing scratched terribly, (hence crappy old films to run through it), but it seems to do better than my cherished high price projectors.
I pay 500.00 for a projector, nearly brand new, and it breaks down in a month ...
I buy an old Copal for five dollars at a garage sale, it won't die.
GRRRR!

Thanks everyone for your comments and hope you all enjoy sharing your films with family or friends as its a wonderfull hobby, although many outside dont really understand it.. my wife being one.
Conner reading the latest FFTC mag I hope many here subscribe to it.
And if all this film stuff gets boring its back to the train set.

Graham,
Good to see the boy getting "all the right influences", i.e. films and trains
I like the Ron Goodwin cover in the background as well; is that a compilation of his film music?
Claus.

Hi Claus
Its not a compilation of his film music but it does include themes from ET, Memories Of Ingrid Bergman, High Noon, Chariots Of Fire, On Golden Pond, Zorba's Dance etc.
There is a good CD available called The Film Music of Ron Goodwin by the BBC Philharmonic/Yuri Torchinsky its by Chandos Records 2004 and is excellent.
Graham.

Don't you just love it when kids get hooked on such good, clean, non-compromising hobbies like ours. Hazah!

Graham. It was so wonderful to read your post and also see the lovely pictures which transported me back to the shows my Son and I used to enjoy what seems so long ago now. He also used to like using the projector and being mechanical it’s always a fascination to children. I can still see his face now trying to work out how the images got out of the projector and onto the big screen. You certainly took me back..
