I'm not an expert with projectors, but I did spend years working in radio, so I have a clue about sound. I have an Elmo 1200 HD that I only use to view films, not to add or mix audio. Last night the levels on two prints were extremely low. I looked through my manual to see if there was a preferred output setting-there wasn't. I looked at the machine and it looks pretty basic: tone control, volume control, and balance control. Correct? Any ideas on what the issue might be? Thanks!

Hi Scott; methodical approach...have you tried these 2 prints on another projector to check the soundtrack?
Do other prints sound ok?
Is the track selection on the rear of the machine switched to the appropriate track?
Are you using the built in speaker? Try that as the first test of volume as external speakers of different impedance can affect volume (although you should still get decent levels).
Let's go from there...

Hey Rob, Thanks for the tips. It ended up being a coincidence. Two prints with poor sound levels. Now, the spindle on the rear arm is rattling, lol. Oh well, I guess it comes with the hobby. Take Care!

Shame about those prints, Scott, but at least it isn't a potentially difficult or expensive projector repair! Plus, maybe the prints can be re-recorded?
Yep, projectors are a bit like old cars; you just get one thing sorted and another bit breaks!
Let us have more detail on that rear spindle as it could just mean a clutch adjustment and might not be too serious with any luck!

Hey Rob,
Outside the spindle seems sound, with the rattle coming from inside. I am not a mechanical person, luckily I'm supposed to meet up with someone who is at Cinevent next month. I've had the projector less than a year and really put it through the paces. I dove in to my new hobby already collecting and screening over 60 prints. I don't have a back up projector and worry about having to replace belts in the near future. I've heard that can be quite the wrestling experience for the novice. I've picked up service manuals, but it all looks like a blur to me, lol. Hopefully, I can make sure everything is up to snuff without breaking my wallet at Cinevent.
