In John’s words:
“What is it?
It is an event that is solely for film collectors. All gauges will be represented. No more will you have to fight past crowds surrounding a washed up 70s sitcom star, or pass miles of dealer tables filled with action figures, toys and other items unrelated to film. This is about 8mm, 16mm, 35mm film and equipment. It’s a chance for collectors to get together for a weekend of buying, swapping showing and talking about films. This will be the only such show in the US.”

John went to great lengths to organize three film collectors conventions. Special thanks to Shorty Caruso, Lou Franchetti, and Steve Klare for getting this one off the ground. If any other Forum members can help in getting the word out, we'd appreciate it greatly. As Shorty wrote “This show will have a special meaning for us and collectors who knew Blackie – It would be great to sit around dinner and tell stories about him, he'd get a kick from that.”

This show is not only dedicated to John, but to everyone out there who enthusiastically threads up projectors and sets up screens!

One more quote from Mr. Black: “This show is being done for all of us still hanging onto our collection of films and equipment. It’s a great way to get to know each other and pick up some bargains. No bidding up, no last minute sniping, see the film before you buy it! We will be screening film all night long! This is a very non-formal show, so if you want to run one of your films, go ahead! If you feel the need to escape for a few hours, Atlantic City is 30 minutes away. We will be oceanfront, so enjoy the ocean right out the door. The only rule of this show is to have fun!"

See you there!

Doug

You've got me pumped up, Doug! I turn 50 (sigh) that Sunday the 16th, so I'll probably be here for that "event", whatever that may be. If not, I'll be there!

You can count the Osgood's in!

We will certainly try to make this one! Maybe we should try to set up a program of film shows. For example, I would be happy to show my rare Derann print of the 1951 film The Magic Box which is the biopic of film pioneer William Friese-Greene starring Robert Donat and a host of British 1950's movie stars. Just a suggestion.

I'm thinking of bring my rare (we'll its the only print of this version of it I have ever seen) "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" scope feature, the 1977 version and not the Derann "Special Edition" version (which is also rare.

... and Gian and my animated cereal commercials reel we did last year on super 8! I'm getting giddy about this!

Be great if Gian would come and all you nice collectors from far and wide - This would make a proud event with pictures and memories to come - Then we can talk film, a subject we never run out of thoughts about, Shorty

Paul, Osi and Gary,

Great news! I'm thrilled that you can all make it.

Paul, we expect to have a program. The question now is whether The Sea Theater (which started as a Nickleodeon some 96 years ago) will be available to us. There's some concern that the theater may not open this season.

We can't have a show without Claus, his photography can't be beat and he is a fine friend to us all - Shorty

Hello the Theater in Wildwood is still closed, so I think we will have Dinner and back to the Hotel to show films unless someone has any Ideas

Shorty,

Thank you so much for the kind words, I will do my best to be there as well.

What's the deal with the theatre? Not opening for the season, having problems?

Claus.

His wife does not want him to open because of his practice in the city

Lou,

Sorry to hear that. The Sea is a such a great place to watch films. Dino's 9.5mm presentation last time out was spectacular.

Dino, hope you can make it, we can still have showings at the hotel, anywhere. That's what it's all about - Shorty
