This weekend paper included an article that originaly came from "The Philadelphia Inquirer". After reading it I thought, thats nice to read about "good ole Super8" however I cant recall a three turret camera as shown in this article...please correct me if I am wrong but is that not Standard8 [Roll Eyes]

If the local paper has added the above photo and it aint Super8 I will give them a kick up the backside and tell them to get there facts right..anyway here is another marvellous photo all the way from the USA...and it is good one.

The camera that Steven Speilberg is visiting is a Bolex B8L which is definitely a Regular 8 camera, I have one. The first picture also looks like a Regular 8 to me. It looks like it has the exposure meter above the lenses where Super 8 usually has through the lens meters. It doesn't have reflex viewing through the lens either which is very common with super 8 cameras.

I was given an old Yashica8-E3 camera years ago and its similar in a way with the rotating turret shown at the top of the article, but its not the same model.

The article itself worth the read especially the part.

I myself still enjoy running our home movies every so often and the colour still looks good even after over thirty years. Those that used Standard 8 Kodachrome, long before I got involved in film...well their stuff from the 60s looks fantastic.

I might contact the local paper that ran it and see if they are interested in a little bit more of a follow up on Super 8 itself, as "Good Old Super 8"... well, its still around [Big Grin]

Yes, Spielberg's camera is definately the dual turret reg 8mm Bolex B8. I do'nt recall turrets ever being designed into super 8 cameras - by the time super 8 came out most all new cameras were using reflex zoom lenses.
In terms of archiving, there is always this nagging thought that all the digital media are temporary, and will not be playable in a relatively few years, whereas we all know that Kodachrome movies will last for a 100 years or more.
