I saw Hugo last night. A great movie that turns out to be a love letter to film. I did have a question though. They showed a scene from a Harold Loyd film where he's climbing a building and hanging from a clock. What film is this from and is it available on Super 8?

It is from Harold Lloyd's "Safety Last"- 1923. I don't know about Super 8 though.

It was available years ago from Blackhawk Films with a musical accompaniment on the mag track. I have copies of almost all the feature-length Harold Lloyd titles that Blackhawk released as part of a limited partnership with Time-Life whom, at the time, owned the distribution rights. I do see them on Ebay every once in a while. If you catch one - grab it while you can. The Lloyd features are hot commodities with film collectors and are not frequently put up for sale.

Not to mention all the original George Melies clips in Hugo as well. If you love cinema history you will love Hugo.
I think Mountain Films also released Safety Last under a different title. I have it somewhere.

Jef Films used to advertise full length 'Safety Last' prints but I suppose they could have been dealing the Blackhawk product.
