Hi everyone,

I'm brand new here, obviously, and don't know much about film in general, especially not 8mm. I'd like to get something nice for my partner for Christmas who is a film editor. Perhaps a vintage piece or collector's item? I wouldn't be opposed to something that actually worked, but I'm at a total loss of where to begin and don't want to start snooping around and ruin the surprise. Any tips, advice, would be helpful!

Also, if there is somewhere else more appropriate to post, let me know.

How much do you want to spend? You could get a nice top of the line camera like a Bolex H8 for a few hundred dollars or a small 8mm pocket camera for as little as $5. The best place to find 8mm cameras is Ebay but it is rare to find one that the seller will describe as a good working camera. There are two 8mm formats, regular 8mm and super 8mm, you may want to do some research to figure out which one you want to get.
