To celebrate 115 years since the first public pay to view film screening on the 28th December I’m proposing each and every one of us project a film onto a screen to join in the many events that are taking place around the world. You can project any film gauge from 8mm to 70mm, any length and if possible post a picture here either off screen or of you projecting.
Come celebrate film 28th Dec 2011!

I showed the Sound Of Music and the King And I on the Dec 28th and "I climbed every Mountain." What a classic pair of Holiday movies to show on super 8 . Two very good digest films on 400 foot reels. Merry Christmas to all and Happy New Year ! "if the Lord in Heaven Budha show the way"!!

It was rather exciting to take part in the 115 years celebrations as we braved the winter elements but it turned into a memorable evening. We firstly had a demonstration on a mini magic lantern dating back to the Victorian era with animated slides, then viewed a Pathe sound projector which has been undergoing optical improvements. After a hearty supper our film group then watched some interesting 16mm seasonal films one of which was to promote showing films at home over Christmas which fitted the bill perfectly. As with most of our film group meetings they are always pleasurable and everyone was in high spirits particularly as we marked the 115 years of the first pay to view which took place in Paris.
