can someone tell me why people on ebay buy old kodak film for there super 8 cameras if it is no longer processed does someone know something i dont?

Because there are a few labs out there that still process old stock. Now for the remaining Kodachrome cartridges, it's probably to experiment as I've heard it can be processed as black and white film (and it makes excellent leaders).

does any one know where this can be processed in the uk? it must work out cheaper than processing new stock which is £27 including film,processing and postage here in the uk

The processing costs more than purchasing a new roll of film and having it processed. I don't know where you can get it done in the UK but I think Film Rescue in the US does it, they are not cheep. It's processed as a Black and White negative. Here are some examples of how it turns out:

Martin Baumgarten has had good results processing it as well. I think he has do-it-yourself instructions on the internet. Here are some stills of his results:
