I am about to shoot my first Kodak 100D Super 8 film. I have a Canon 814 XLS camera. I have read items and watched the Kodak intro etc on youtube.

My question is, does the cartridge move the filter into the correct position via a notch, or do I have to manually switch the filter to the "indoor" (non-daylight) position?

Hi,

a) When the camera has already automatically removed the filter, the switch gets ignored. So it doesn't do any harm to move the switch to "bulb"/"indoor".
b) The filter drastically reduces the amount of light that reaches the film. So without cart the camera's lightmeter will produce obvious difference with filter en- and disabled. You can do the same test with an E100D - if the camera's lightmeter still reacts to the switch's position, you'll have set that switch to "bulb"/"indoor" otherwise its position is irrelevant...

Yes that makes sense, I will make sure it is in the indoor position with the switch as well. I am looking forward to shooting it.
