I know it must have been said many times, but I am still not too sure, which is the earlier model series, the knobs with the dot or a dash. I've just had a nice GS1200 in and I want to find out what series it is (it has a dot, by the way).

Dots are for series 1, dash is for series 2 and 3.
Series 1 also feature a forward lower loop, whereas the others have the lower loop backwards.
I have one series 1 machine with low usage and it is a very smooth running machine.

My series 2 (backward lower loop) machine has dots on the amplifier controls. [Confused]

Dot? Dash?

A Morse is a Morse (of course!, of course!)

(sorry...)

When I was in the Boys Brigade [Roll Eyes] many moons ago, we did morse code and still refer to it as Dits and Dahs ...---... does anyone remember that one?

Graham. [Wink]

Thanks guys, so this must be a series one model, but it is nice condition and runs very smoothly.

Barry join my confused dot com….. Had a few over the years and the knob thing is not really the ultimate guide as to which version the machine is. I guess they used whatever knobs they had in the later years or some of these knobs could even had seen a switch over at some point. I always look for the loop just under the gate going backwards on a later machine. Like you I have also had mitts on very good early versions which have not been hammered.
