Funny you should mention this. There was a copy on EBay a short time ago. I remember the title because of the title. It would never fly today. Check this link:

The film which Larry has posted is obviously a silent film which I do not know, however, the film which Pasquale refers to is the 1935 "Little Black Sambo", a Comicolor (Cinecolor) cartoon made by Ib Iwerks.

The latter was issued in black & white and colour by Castle Films and in black & white in the UK by the GB Film Library under their "Movie Pak" titles.

Yes, this one is odd. It is not the more typical I've seen online which are those mentioned above. Sambo blows away a (white) dog dressed as a bear. A live action film like this would never happen but you couldn't even do this with a remake cartoon today.

This is certainly not LITTLE BLACK SAMBO. It is a b&w silent cutdown of a Technicolor BOSCO cartoon of the mid/late thirties (Hugh Harman,MGM) which this guy remixed with jazz music.I am not certain of its title though.

Panayotis is absolutely correct. I bought, just recently, a color version of that Ub Iwerks cartoon, "Little Black Sambo" and it was released by "Hollywood Films" (which had a great logo, by the way!)

Oh, and for the interested, that other actual Ub Iwerks cartoon, but a black and white version, was also accompanied by an old "Farma Al falfa" cartoon that hosted black characters as well.

I will change the listing to a Sambo-like character because most wouldn't know Bosko from Bosco.

I've been checking my cartoon books and the Internent and think the film is probably the 1935 Bosko "Run, Sheep, Run".

Yes, it's close except for the ending. On my reel it's the dog that is shot at inside the bear suit. In the link it's sheep. I know they spliced & diced these shorts so the true ending could be the sheep but they end it (on my reel) with the dog being shot at which may be a scene just prior to the sheep.

What is it with all the home moves for sale on ebay? I guess better there than what was (is) tossed in the trash.
My Aunt (now 94) had her film transferred to VHS decades ago. The transfer quality is poor to good.
She has a bazillion jars of mismatched bolts & washers taking up shelves in her garage, none of which have been touched in 40 years. Those she keeps. The film she threw away. (Arrgh!)
