Hey all! i just opend up a film from the early 50's from my grandmother, it is of Korea and Tokyo. My grandma's brother served in the U.S Army and was deployed to Korea when the war broke out and was able to sneek his Bolex into his duffle bag! any way now the subject, I took it out of its reel case to load it on to my Bolex 18-5 and there is about 40 seconds of film that was spliced with what seems to be scotch tape, when i started to set up the film that first splice came undone and i would like to repair it, i was just wondering what i should know be fore i start fiddilin with it, again thanks for your help!

Do you have a film splicer?

the scotch tape should work if the splice is cut right if you redo the cut cut the film on the frame the only thing you will see while its projecting is the tape. if the film originally broke and taped that should be fine as well if you redo it make sure the sprocket holes do not get covered up if they do use a toothpick to poke through it, unless you can find a splicer of your grandmas somewhere. good luck [Smile]
