Hi There,
I want to have 4 projectors serviced and 1 looked at in England, there do not appear to be any servicing possibilities left in Ireland.
What is the best and convenient way to pack and ship?
My initial idea would be to just use a wooden suitcase and fill / line it with bubble wrap and foam. Is that good enough? Do I need to take the bulbs out?
Any good experiences with shipping companies?
Thanks,
J.

If you can ship in the original polystyrene packing, that would be ideal
Joost, failing that,I have found that packing the projector in
bubble wrap or polystyrene popcorn solid in one box, then placing
it inside another larger box,and packing that with popcorn too.Always place the machine in a plastic bag to ensure that no pieces of packing
get lodged where they shouldn't.Therefore with the projector
double boxed, that ensures it will get there safely.NEVER ever
leave the handle sticking out of the top,as this encourages the
handlers to use it to throw it about.Make sure all seams of the
boxes are sealed with plenty of tape and at least two address
labels on the box.a phone around the various shippers will
soon give you the cheapest.Parcelforce are OK,as long as it's
well packed. Some of the shippers ask if there is any glass in
the package,to which you should answer no,as this is just some
health and safety silliness.Anyway, best of luck.

Hugh is correct absolutely the "box in box" method is your safest. I have had projectors sent to me from overseas and as long as they are packed like this they always arrive safe and sound.

Are you planning to ship them in one shipment? If so, a projector can be real heavy if it is a GS 1200. It can reach 17 kg alone.
You must carefull think that some shipping companies have a limit for one shipment. In this case you must divide into 2 or 3 shipments.
Have you weighted all 5 together plus packing?
