last time I was in the hobby I had one and a few scope films, now I cant remember what brand it was, how many lenses are there that can be used on this projector?

Hi Kenneth, Just type "scope lense" into the search box above for the 8mm Forum, click on search, and you'll see a lot of threads and info about different scope lenses. I use a Singer 16D myself, with a mount I got from Wittner in Germany. The Reel Image now also carries this mount and others, plus scope lenses.

I use a Sankor 16F with mine and it does just fine.

I lucked out and spent under $50 for the lens, but I figure a real mount is going to run me about $150 when I get tired of fooling around with my homemade ones.

You're right Steve, that's about what I paid for my mount. I don't think Steve Osborne had them at the time. I also got a deal on my lens, I paid around $60.00 in mint condition, complete with lens caps and case [Smile]

Tim Christian found me mine on E-bay.uk and checked it out before he shipped it to me. It happens to be a veteran of the Royal Navy.

I've been monkeying around with various contraptions to align it in place for years, and sooner or later I'll take the Osborne Option myself. With things as they are setting up is a big enough pain I don't watch my 'scope films very often.

Slightly out of topic here.

All talk related to this has always been about a scope lens placed in front of a 'flat' lens which is in front of the film. So, film -> flat lens -> scope lens -> scope image.

The problem here is the requirement of a bracket or mount to hold the scope lens in place. Is there one lens that would go from film to scope directly? Is film -> one lens -> scope image possible? Of course, it'd have to be made to slide into our respective projector lens' slot.

Yes Akhsay, there is such lens. CMIIW It's called generically as a attachment lens.

But i am not sure if it is available for Elmo. What I heard is for B&H. Too bad each projector has different grid or lens instalment position/slot so it cannot be universal as using front scope lens (with bracket). That's why front lens is more popular.

But you are right, an attachment lens will be ideal beause it will not decrease the brightness and would be 100% right in front of film, not like using bracket that can be slightly dis-align.
