After I did the tutorial on the Kodak Universal Presstape Splicer there was a request to do another one for a film cement splicer.

Akshay...Glad you like it. I actually don't like my voice...but it's the only one I got, so I have to live with it [Smile]

Pat...This one I did over the course of about 4 days 1)Shoot the video 2)Do rough edit 3) Write the script 4) Record the voice over 5)Edit and sync the audio with each action 6) Final edit 7) Select and add music.

Tim...I use to play guitar...but that wasn't me. I use royalty free music and the artist is usually not listed.

Janice, your voice is bad? It's as good as Werner Herzog's. now you must compete with James Cameron in production value. Perhaps have the next video in 3D, go for motion capture even .....

On a very very serious note, I have a request. Can you film the entire disassembly and reassembly of an Elmo ST-1200HD? Yes, the magnitude of the task is scary but a video like that could give bring many Elmos back from the netherworlds. Janice, I have to say it, very very cheesily, ..... the future of Super 8 collecting is in your hands.

Nice Video Janice. Having just bought some R8 sound prints on
E\bay i noticed a few did'nt have leaders. I eventually found my old R8 wet splicer and some white acetate R8 leader but no film cement [Roll Eyes]

When i seen you using superglue i picked up 2 of the small tubes for 1 Euro (You done better than me on this one!) and hey presto the superglue done the trick with the aid of the toothpick! Who needs film cement anymore.. Thanks Janice.

I'm glad the video helped you Desmond. I'm not recommending using any one method for splicing. I use Presstapes, Super Glue, and Film Cement depending on the situation. I think it's good to have alternatives.

I just picked up a variation model of the 3-way splicer that I really like. Instead of pulling the film off the pins after the cement has dried you can lower the pins separately from the plate... which pops the film right off. Very cool [Cool]
