I had a question from a collector friend who asked me when Marketing Films closed, well I told him that there was most probably two answers as there were 2 companies, Marketing Films International which was based in the U.S. (New York, I think) and the parent German company of Marketing Films. I believe the U.S. side was wound down around 1982, but I believe the German company carried on for a couple of more years, but I don't really know when, can anyone shed some light on this question, perhaps one of the German Forum members know more than me.

The German arm of Marketing Films is actually still operating and selling DVDs and Blu Rays to this day!

I believe they were actually the parent company of the US branch which went bust.

They were Mark, and one thing still puzzles me to this day, is why
the German releases always had superior print quality to their
US company.

Yes the German prints of the US Marketing releases were all rather superior to the US prints and thats why the second batch of releases such as War of the Worlds etc were all printed by German labs on thin Polyester film stock, the packaging was also more sturdy too.

... and not only thin polyester stock but in most cases, glorious low fade stock! I'd still LOVE to get my hands on one of those Low Fade "War of the Worlds" 3X400ft!
