Hello Group,
I'd like to know if anyone out there is having the same problem I'm having with EFP replacement bulbs. The last three bulbs I ordered wouldn't fit in the projector (Elmo ST600) as the pins were too long. By the time I discovered the problem on the first 2 it was too late to return them, but I ordered a new one last week, received it Saturday and tried to install it today with the same problem. The seller issued me a refund, but I still need replacement bulbs.

Are these new versions of the EFP? If so then I'm screwed.

PS I clipped the pins as suggested, but it turns out the entire bulb is too big and just won't fit in the bulb fixture.

Can't you just snip the pins shorter?

I tried that on the first two but I guess the clipper was not very good and the bulbs just fell apart. I suppose I could try again with another pair of clippers.

Where are you buying these from? I've never encountered that. I either buy them from Steve Osborne, or bulb man. That is not right.

I get them from various ebay sellers. Their service is good but the quality of the bulbs vary. I purchased an Elmo ST600 last year, and when the bulb burned out I ordered several spares but they burned out quickly. Now I have the problem with the pins being too long.

Frank, I would'nt advise trying to snip the pins, why not just
wear off the excess on an angle grinder, a few seconds will suffice
DON'T FORGET TO WEAR SAFETY GOGGLES.

What brand are they?
I've never had a problem with Osram lamps...

Thanks for the advice Hugh. I don't have an angle grinder, but I did use a clipper that is sort of like a bird's beak, so when I clipped the pins the pieces didn't go flying. It didn't matter, since I then learned the bulb is just too big for the fixture.

They are listed as Osram Xenophot EFP on ebay, but the box states "Hikari Halogen Lamps" MR16C.

I may contact Steve Osborne about getting replacements from him. Thank you for the tip Bradford.

There are a lot of sellers on Ebay who have no idea what they are selling, which is a really bad thing for users of specialized equipment such as film. Buying on ebay is a gamble at any time. Buying from experts like Steve Osborne is never a gamble. People buy projectors and other things on ebay because they appear to be cheap bargains. Most times the things don't work , are misrepresented ....and the buyer is stuck with that "bargain". Better to buy from people who know and people who care.

Frank, that sounds like a completely inaccurate listing.

The Osram Xenophot bulbs, when you get the real deal, are excellent.
