Hi
I am brand new to this site and would appreciate some help with the removal of the drive motor as it squeals when it is running.
The brushes look OK, but the comm segments are tarnished.
I have removed the transformer, but I am unsure of what to undo next to get at the motor.
I have turned the motor by hand and it feels lumpy and seems to be catching the fan case. I presume there is some end float on the motor when it is set up correctly.
I have taken several pictures to aid with reassembly.
Kind regards
John

Welcome to the forum John!
If the fan is catching its case, you should check the following: on the motor housing are rubber "distance holders". As the rubber is about 60 years old now it is not elastic anymore and it has given way over time. So the motor is not exactly in the position it is supposed to be and as the fan is on the motor axis it has moved out of position as well and is touching its case.
The only solution is to change the rubber parts.
I have the same problem with a P8 that I inherited of my grandparents. I haven't repaired the projector yet, so unfortunately I can not give you advice how to do it exactly.
