Well hear they lay my 1978 ELMO k-100SM and a 50's Kodak Browning 500. I acquired the Browning at a yardsale $20.00 and just last night i did a quick craigslist search and found this ELMO that was located about 70miles away for $30.00 stating "it is in lke new condition" hardly ever used. I contacted the guy and he assured me it works properly and that he had intentions to use it for transferring film to digital? Well.. It didn't pan out for him and it was time to let it go he said. We agreed to meet near his place of home and do the exchange.
Nice guy. He talked about transferring film and bla bla bla (truthfully he knows about projectors just like i do NOTHING). He brought a car converter to plug in to his automobile so he could show me that it works. Soon as he turned it on the fan&light came on for 3seconds and then stopped. "blew a fuse in his car, He plugged the converter into another charger (12volt cigarette lighter) and turned it on again about the same 4 to 5 seconds blew the fuse. It was good to me bulb worked fan worked "I paid the man". Got it home plugged it in light came on fan worked switched it to play the arm gear wasn't spinning put it in reverse still nothing.... not good I pulled the back cover off and pieces of belt fell on the table. The belt was stretched and had yellowish/brown spots i took all the pieces of the belt out of the projector and functioned the control knobs switches and what not none of the pulleys moved of corse but when I was switching from R8 TO S8 i can hear the swapping of the gears not a loud sound but noticeable if your listening for something different. Things are good i think. I focused the light on the wall and on the edges of the screen i can see what looks to me like hair or fuzz. what is the technique to clean the leans? Is there anything else i should check or look over till I get my belts?
The Kodak Browning 500 I searched the internet and they must of made a billion of these. The one I have says it is a f/1.6 lens & Model A. The front case cover has 500 in gold numbers on the bottom right corner and the belts are not rubber at all, 2 metal spring type bands (the clicking sound it makes is awesome) I know they were made between late 50's to 63? Does anybody know how I can find the true age of this machine? "And Is there anything I should check over with this projector before running film through it.... I'm just excited.. lol P.S I can't upload a pic says my password is incorrect. i think I tried like two many times.. different size pic & file code still nothing I'll address this matter else where on 8mm forum.
