Hello,

I have very little knowledge in old film cameras. I need a recommendation for an old (oldest possible) film camera (8mm/super 8/16mm), that has to be affordable and not too costly. Something that produces films that have an old look or touch to them (yet colourful).

Just a random video I found that can demonstrate what I mean:

Thanks.

If you're looking to shoot something really old you will want to go with 8mm not Super 8. Most of us that shoot film try to get the best results possible so there may not be much advice for getting bad results. I prefer Bolex because they are reliable and produce great results. You may want to go with something like a Bell & Howell Companion or Sportster or a Kodak Cine 8. They are some older models that are readily available. Some of the old soviet made 8mm cameras may be a way to go as well.

If the camera is running just shoot it as is and don't try to clean it up much or lubricate it. That should help give you some jittery scratched up looking footage.

Can you tell me which models to search for?

I would recommend the Bolex B8 or C8.
