Hello there! Glad I found this forum. Not much resources for 8mm films these days!

I just picked up this model on eBay. There is no sound. I checked the fuse on the amplifier board and it seems blown out. So, I put another one and as soon as I plugged the projector to the outlet, the fuse blew. I tried another one just to make sure it was not a fluke and that one too blew right there.

So, there is obviously something wrong on the amplifier board. I did examine it, specially the solders underneath it but didn't see anything suspicious. I did activate the record switch on the back a few times while on reverse to clean up any debris that could be there but there is still no sound at all.

What can I do?

Thanks in advance for any advice, info or pointers!

Page 17 of the Instruction Book says the fuse protects the amplifier from overloads, but it does not protect the projector against damage through connection to the incorrect mains voltage.

If the motor and lamp work there is obviously a problem with the amplifier, possibly a defective capacitor.
