Derann issued quite a few trailers and excerpts form some of the classic Rodger's & Hammerstein films, such as Oklahoma!, Carousel, and South Pacific. Two that I have in particular are the Gene Nelson 'Kansas City' number from Oklahoma, and the 'Nothing Like a Dame' and 'Honey Bun' numbers from South Pacific. Each one is about 200ft, so spliced together they make a great 400ft reel. And they are both in scope. However the mono track from Derann, while OK, lacks the impactful sound you expect from these films. I did a stereo re-record using my Eumig 926GL and got simply stunning stereo throughout the whole 400ft. Once again, the stereo sound capability of the Eumig 926/938 just blew me away. If there is a better stereo re-recording projector out there I would like to know about it. Anyway, having now obtained a superb 400ft scope extract with belting stereo I decided the film was worthy of a decent box art.
I went to work, starting with a Derann template and ended up with a nice cover:

I to have the South Pacific Scope short as well. The colour is stunning but need to re-record the sound. I don't have the means to sync it to dvd or blu-ray, but will soon give it a go.

Hi Graham,
Yes the South Pacific is as sharp as a tack and with great color. 'Kansas City' is not quite as good, just a little soft, but still with great color. Gene Nelson was a great hoofer, and this extract shows just how good he was. Both excerepts are terrific, and the stereo brings both of these shorts to life. I am very happy with the results, well worth the effort.

Considering Derek had to use a 16mm print for the 'Kansas City' extract, it came out pretty good.
