I looked and the 100W 12V bulb this projector takes is desginated EFP. I have found that osram also makes an EFP/X that has 600hrs of life instead of the normal 50. is there any good reason not to buy this? it is about $2 more than the 50hr bulb from this particular vendor
link to .pdf for this bulb is here: [URL=http://cdn2.bulbamerica.com/downloads/dl/file/id/2001/osram_54192_efp_x_64629_hlx.pdf]http://cdn2.bulbamerica.com/downloads/dl/file/id/2001/osram_54192_efp_x_64629_hlx.pdf[/UR L]
they also sell this bulb which has 1500hr life: http://www.bulbamerica.com/osram-sylvania-64637-100w-mr16-light-bulb.html
does the difference in bulb life effect color temperature?
osram's website is unfortunately not so helpful...
also do other forum members have preferred sources of bulbs that they like?
any other info a person might like to know when buying projector bulbs?
thanks,
jon

These are not designed for movie projectors which need a high colour temperature for the blues. The standard EFP which we all use has a temp of 5800 Kelvin.
However, the EFP/X is only 3350 Kelvin, and the EFP/LL is even lower at 3000 Kelvin.
Both the latter would have too great a red content for film projection.

Thanks, Maurice. The description of the bulb is confusing as they state : Application
• Projection Lamps
• Medical Equipment
• Stage Lighting,
so nice you warned us.

I agree 100%!
However, one still can use them for projection without a problem and the Kelvin temperature color balance would be non-important for black & white.

Thank you Maurice!
That is exactly the info that I was looking for. I figured there's a reason the standard bulbs only last 50hrs or so. Thankfully the bulbs do not cost more than the projector, so I can keep a few spares on hand without breaking the bank.

So, I'm also looking for bulbs for my CL16 and AL16 projectors, these only seem to be available in 3300-3400K bulbs... what's the deal? if I need 5800K daylight bulbs for super 8, do I not need these also for 16mm?
