Doing some routine cleaning on the GS1200 today and noticed the fan blades looked dusty. I stuck a q-tip down into the blades and the grunge of grease and dust between the blades was unbeleivable - and I think I keep my projectors clean! [Eek!] Anyway I completed an hour long task of cleaning all the stuff out between the blades using about 20 q-tips. Now the projector seems to put out more air flow than before.
I read somewhere that for every 10C rise in the temperature of solid state electronics, the mean time before failure is halved.
A dirty fan will not move as much air, so the electronics are going to run hotter.
So keep those fan blades clean and your projector running cool! [Cool]

A good tip from Paul. Something I wouldn't have thought about.
