Dear all, Here's 'Cable Car' a new super 8 short film I shot on Argenti B&W negative super 8 negative film.

The film was home processed (as you can probably see [Wink] and digitized on a home-made telecine device.

You can see the film on my blog here...

Or read a little bit more about the digitizing process here..

Hope you enjoy the film, any comments welcome,
many thanks for taking a look.
Chris

Lovely Chris .... I enjoyed your film very much. Even though the subject matter was more modern...it had the look and feel of old films from the 20's. Nice work!

Chris ...

Does this require a special camera? I ask as that aspect ratio is of course, wider than the standard 8mm or super 8 ratio! I was certainly intrigues and thank you for posting.

Many thanks for the responses, really encouraging...

Osi, thanks for the question. this was shot with a normal Nizo 156XL super 8 camera, but I used a Panasonic LA7200 anamorphic adaptor lens on the front of it. This lens was designed to give 16x9 ratio for old Panasonic camcorders with 4x3 sensors, so it enables a 1.33X stretch to the normal super 8 ratio.
In the editing/post stage I stretch the pictures by %133 (in the x-axis) to give the correct ratio i.e. 16x9 images.
I also chose a really widescreen (2.35:1) ratio for the whole project, then used the 16x9 footage at various sizes within this overall framing.
Hope this makes sense.
