Hi - I have the chance of getting an Elmo E-80 projector in a junk shop for A$30. The machine powers up and runs nicely, has been tagged as being electrically safe, but the lamp is broken. It has the original case and manual, and the lens is clear and fungus free. Is this projector any good and worth grabbing, noting I have just bought a Bolex M8R. Would I be wasting my time and cash? Is this a candidate for a low voltage lamp swap?
Thanks from Canberra, Australia.

Well, I got it for $20.

It works well, runs smoothly, has the original gate brush and original instructions. It needs a new lamp (240v here in Australia - help please on the type I need) and the rubber feet have perished.

There is no fungus in the lens, all the belts and springs are fine, and it has the original case too. All I need to do is give it a cosmetic clean-up, replace the lamp and feet and it will be just about 100%.

According to this website:

Replacement Light Bulbs

The 230V lamp is type DKK. (240V should be OK too.)

From what I can see they are not very rare. This seller has 29 in stock for $30 US. I bet you can do better locally.

Good Luck!
