I was browsing through a used bookstore in Flagstaff, Arizona a few days ago and there, in a back corner, was a Euming Mark S 712D for $20.00. I took it out of the case, plugged it in and it ran and the bulb also worked. After convincing my wife that this was an extremely rare find [Roll Eyes]

I purchased it. At home, I cleaned it up, took the back cover off and to my surprise, no drive belts are used, however it ran very slow at either speed, the capstan drive was slipping on the rubber coated flange. So, off to the 8mm Forum to see if there was a post relative to that problem and there is, from Mark Barton, who suggested lightly sanding the rubber coated flange. That solved the problem, thank you Mark (I love this forum). Now to see if the sound works. I put in a film and bummer, no sound, but then I recalled seeing a post by Steve Klare, I believe it was, who suggested cycling the trim pots to remove any oxidation that may have built up on the surface. Bingo, now have sound, thank you Steve (did I mention I love this forum?). My wife asked what I was planning on doing with it and of course the answer is "put it on the shelf with those other projectors". This IS addictive.

Those Eumigs's are made like tanks, and just about anything can be fixed on them. I still have an 810D which runs like new. The weak point is the drive disc which may need periodic cleaning with alcohol or light sanding, which you have already done. Exercising the red record button from time to time will help keep those contacts clean as well, and a little electrolube on the contacts is very beneficial.

Yes, a potentially "dead" Eumig can soon be up and running thanks to a few "quick fixes", all available here on the forum!

I've had a couple of Eumigs where I've just thought, ugh, scrap.

And then a nice simple fix comes forth from the good folk here! [Smile]

(Certainly a lot of the problems we see here are because they don't regularly.)
