I just bought a used Eumig projector on ebay. I just ran a film through it (my only one), and the audio sounds as if the film were being projected at a much slower speed, though it's playing at 24 fps.

Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Your projector needs some cleaning and lube. Old lubrication grease can get very stiff and make it heavier for the engine to run the mechanism. Also there may be an issue with the rubber covered transmission discs: the steel pulley on the motor axis is supposed to lean onto one of thiese discs an the rubber it comes in contact with, should have enough grip to make the main shaft spin. But due to ageing, the rubber hardens (much as with old tyres) and loses its properties. You should gently sand it with extra fine sanding paper, but this is a work for specialists. Best of all, would be to replace these discs, but given spares are scarce these days (and in this case the rubber on them would be the same age as the factory originals), you might be better off in this way. Anyway this problem has often been dealt with on this forum, so if you need more advise please use the search facility.

I have one of these projectors and occasionally is runs slow at 24fps. The cure is first of all, clean the rubber discs with pure lighter fuel on a small piece of cloth. This will remove old residue of grease and dust. Then, using the finest sand paper, lightly press it onto the disc and turn the disc by using the inching knob. Wipe any residue away with a little more lighter fuel and leave it to dry for a minute or so. Then wipe the shiny driving disc (0n the motor shaft)with a bit more lighter fuel and all should be OK.
